However, for Sarah Frow, our very own PCIT Fitness Instructor, a Young Onset Parkinson’s diagnosis has redefined her approach to exercise. Now, it is a tool to empower her brain and slow the disease’s progression.

Inspired by fellow PCIT supporter, Sudhir Krishnan, who trekked to Everest Base Camp in aid of the Centre last year, Sarah sought a physical challenge of her own. Running and hiking were familiar territory, but how to create a truly grueling yet inspirational challenge? The answer came with a friend’s suggestion to run part of the Pilgrims’ Way. Taking things a step further, she set her sights on traversing the entire route – from Winchester to Canterbury – in just one week.

This ambitious journey will encompass six days, each demanding 20 to 30 miles on foot. The challenge holds a special significance, with the route beginning in Winchester and concluding in Canterbury, the home of PCIT and Sarah’s birthplace.

After five month’s of training, Sarah’s challenge is just over a month away and she needs your help to reach her ambitious fundraising target of £10,000. To date she has raised an incredible sum of £5,048 so is already over half way!

To learn more about Sarah’s challenge, her training to date and to sponsor her, please visit her JustGiving page.

Sarah – we wish you the best of luck!

Schedule

Monday 27 May: Winchester to Upper Froyle

Tuesday 28 May: Upper Froyle to Guildford

Wednesday 29 May: Guildford to South Croyden

Thursday 30 May: South Croyden to Rochester

Friday 31 May: Rochester to Charing

Saturday 1 June: Charing to Canterbury

For many, exercise is about physical goals: winning races, sculpting physiques or maintaining weight.
