{"id":4138,"date":"2023-09-21T11:17:17","date_gmt":"2023-09-21T10:17:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/?p=4138"},"modified":"2023-09-21T14:50:59","modified_gmt":"2023-09-21T13:50:59","slug":"4138","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/2023\/09\/21\/4138\/","title":{"rendered":"Join us for YOPD\u201923: A showcase event to find out more about Young Onset Parkinson\u2019s disease"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hot on the heels of the World Parkinson Congress\u00a0held\u00a0in Barcelona this summer, <a href=\"https:\/\/spotlightyopd.org\/\">Spotlight YOPD<\/a> is co-hosting a dedicated taster day to increase the understanding of young onset Parkinson\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n<p>Simply called YOPD\u201923, the\u00a0event\u00a0includes\u00a0therapies and feel-good activities,\u00a0essential\u00a0information for both people with YOPD and practitioners,\u00a0audience involvement, expert\u00a0knowledge and lived experience, much of which will be\u00a0presented by\u00a0those with Young Onset Parkinson&#8217;s. Invited guests include Gillian Lacey-Solymar from the BBC podcast Movers and Shakers.<\/p>\n<p>The event will be held at the Kent MS Therapy Centre in Canterbury, Kent where the new Parkinson\u2019s Centre for Integrated Therapy (PCIT) is based.\u00a0 PCIT plans to become the UK\u2019s first dedicated YOPD hub.<\/p>\n<p>More information to follow on the Eventbrite page but please make a note of the date in your diary \u2013 21<sup>st\u00a0<\/sup>October, 1pm-5pm \u2013 and register your attendance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/yopd-23-tickets-718533261327?utm-campaign=social&amp;utm-content=attendeeshare&amp;utm-medium=discovery&amp;utm-term=listing&amp;utm-source=cp&amp;aff=ebdsshcopyurl\">online<\/a>.
