On Tuesday 11th April, they came together on Paddock Island in Chatham with other organisations including The Queen\u2019s Gurkha Engineers (QGE), Medway\u2019s Non Visible Disability initiative (NDVi), Parkinson\u2019s UK, the Multiple Sclerosis Society and Headway for Medway to mark World Parkinson’s Day.\u00a0\u00a0The Medway Skylarks, a fun singing group for those with a neurological condition, were joined by other Kent choirs to perform for those attending. \u00a0 The Mayor of Medway officially opened the event accompanied by the pipes and drums from the QGE.<\/p>\n
In the evening, the celebrations continued at fundraising meal at the Gurkha Brothers Restaurant which included presentations from Professor David Wilkinson on the University of Kent\u2019s new Parkinson\u2019s Centre for Integrated Therapy (PCIT), Neil Bindemann from the Person-Centred Neurosciences Society, a video from Sudhir Krishnan, who undertook a trek in the Himalayas for PCIT was played and Jane Hobden, an exercise teacher from the European School of Osteopathy at Boxley led the diners in a group exercise. The money raised from ticket sales and the raffle on the night was divided between the Gurkha Welfare Trust, The Nepalese Parkinson\u2019s Disease Association and the Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy.<\/p>\n
