{"id":2700,"date":"2020-06-05T10:59:51","date_gmt":"2020-06-05T09:59:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/?p=2700"},"modified":"2020-06-05T10:59:51","modified_gmt":"2020-06-05T09:59:51","slug":"kent-fresh-doorstep-deliveries-help-more-than-100-vulnerable-people-and-carers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/2020\/06\/05\/kent-fresh-doorstep-deliveries-help-more-than-100-vulnerable-people-and-carers\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent Fresh Doorstep Deliveries help more than 100 vulnerable people and carers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">More than 100 vulnerable people and carers have been supported by Kent Fresh Doorstep Deliveries thanks to a Covid-19 response grant from Santander Universities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/files\/2020\/06\/Kent-Fresh.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2702\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/files\/2020\/06\/Kent-Fresh.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"252\" height=\"175\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kent Fresh, which began offering doorstep deliveries when the pandemic lockdown began, applied for the funding through the University of Kent\u2019s partnership with Santander.<\/p>\n<p>With the \u00a3500 grant, Kent Fresh, provided two care homes with fresh fruit and vegetables to feed more than 60 residents and key worker staff.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the company, which is based in Westgate, delivered 30 food bags to Birchington Food Bank which will providing support to a further 50 people.<\/p>\n<p>Director, Bobby Mason, said: \u201cWhen lockdown began we quickly realised that doorstep deliveries were going to be vital in ensuring vulnerable people were able to get the nutritious food they needed to get through.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing able to support care homes, key workers and other vulnerable people has been a huge privilege.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The grants where distributed through the Kent Business School which highlighted the funding through its regular newsletter to businesses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than 100 vulnerable people and carers have been supported by Kent Fresh Doorstep Deliveries thanks to a Covid-19 response grant from Santander Universities.
