The University has outlined a new approach to working with its supporters, giving them new ways to create opportunities for students, enable ground-breaking discoveries and make a difference in our communities.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0new campaign<\/a>\u00a0builds on the University\u2019s\u00a0extensive work with supporters and friends<\/strong>\u00a0since its foundation in 1965, encouraging collaboration on projects that will help shape its future. As well as\u00a0building ways to support students<\/strong>\u00a0to find and shape their place in the world, this includes\u00a0collaborating with researchers<\/strong>\u00a0on world-changing projects and\u00a0strengthening our shared communities<\/strong>\u00a0through key initiatives such as the new Kent and Medway Medical School.<\/p>\n

The updated approach was launched at the University\u2019s recent Foundation Day, which\u00a0highlights the pioneering individuals and organisations who set up the institution<\/strong>, along with the \u2018First 500\u2019 students who came to Kent. The annual event brings together a wider community of support to\u00a0reflect on both the University\u2019s past and its plans for the future<\/strong>, with this year\u2019s celebration featuring a keynote speech from Royal College of General Practitioners Chair Helen Stokes-Lampard.<\/p>\n

Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Karen Cox said<\/strong>: \u201cThe University is empowered by the people who work and study here, and the communities who support us \u2013 our alumni, donors and friends. Since our foundation, students have benefitted from a transformative experience in a diverse and supportive environment, and we share that same spirit, determination and ambition today.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are here to make a difference, and are especially proud that we do that together with our wonderful supporters.
