<\/a>The scholarship will\u00a0cover the course fees<\/strong>\u00a0for a Medway student for the full five years of the\u00a0Bachelor of Surgery, Batchelor of Medicine<\/a>\u00a0course at the\u00a0Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS)<\/a>.<\/p>\nKMMS is a\u00a0collaboration\u00a0<\/strong>between\u00a0the University of Kent and\u00a0Canterbury Christ Church University\u00a0<\/a>and will welcome its first students in\u00a02020<\/strong>.<\/p>\n This scholarship offers an\u00a0amazing opportunity<\/strong>\u00a0to support a local student and is an example of how\u00a0Medway Council<\/a>\u00a0is supporting its residents to achieve their full potential.<\/p>\n The scholarship will be open to students from Medway who have a confirmed place at KMMS.<\/p>\n Cllr David Brake<\/a>, Medway Council\u2019s Portfolio Holder for Adult Services, covering Public Health, said: \u2018We are delighted to announce this scholarship which will give a Medway resident the chance to become a doctor. We are proud to be\u00a0supporting the learning and development of our students who aspire to become doctors<\/strong>. We are committed to supporting people to achieve their full potential and this scholarship is a prime example of our commitment.<\/p>\n \u2018The Kent and Medway Medical School is not only a fantastic opportunity for students but it will also benefit our\u00a0local health care system<\/strong>\u00a0and help to increase the number of\u00a0medical students and GPs<\/strong>\u00a0across Kent and Medway.<\/p>\n \u2018We\u2019re looking forward to continuing to work with the Medical School when it starts to teach the first class of students next year.\u2019<\/p>\n Professor\u00a0Chris Holland<\/a>, Founding Dean, KMMS, said: \u2018This scholarship is a powerful example of how Medway Council is supporting the\u00a0ambitions<\/strong>\u00a0of the Kent and Medway Medical School.
