{"id":2088,"date":"2018-06-22T14:40:41","date_gmt":"2018-06-22T13:40:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/?p=2088"},"modified":"2018-06-22T14:40:41","modified_gmt":"2018-06-22T13:40:41","slug":"work-by-smfa-fine-art-alumna-nadia-perrotta-selected-by-unesco-for-human-rights-contemporary-art-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/2018\/06\/22\/work-by-smfa-fine-art-alumna-nadia-perrotta-selected-by-unesco-for-human-rights-contemporary-art-exhibition\/","title":{"rendered":"Work by SMFA Fine Art alumna Nadia Perrotta selected by UNESCO for Human Rights Contemporary Art Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/files\/2018\/06\/invito-HR-EDU.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2089\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/files\/2018\/06\/invito-HR-EDU-300x133.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"133\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/files\/2018\/06\/invito-HR-EDU-300x133.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/files\/2018\/06\/invito-HR-EDU.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A moving image installation about art and children called <em>Because I am<\/em>, written and directed by SMFA alumni Nadia Perrotta (BA, 2015, and MA Fine Art, 2017) and featuring Lalita Bailey, (BA Fine Art 2017) and the children of Squirrel Lodge and The Rabbit on the Moon nurseries, has been selected for a major UNESCO event in Italy about art and education.<\/p>\n<p>Presented by Associazione Internazionale Arti Plastiche Italia,\u00a0Spazio-Tempo Arte\u00a0and\u00a0Fondazione Opera Campana dei Caduti<em>, Human Rights?\u00a0#EDU 2018<\/em> is an International Exhibition of Contemporary Art from 23 June \u2013 23 September at the Fondazione Opera Campana dei Caduti, Rovereto, Trento, Italy which features 161\u00a0artists\u00a0from\u00a037\u00a0countries defending the human right to education.<\/p>\n<p>The event asks the artists to represent and tell, with their own artistic language, a personal vision of the problem of\u00a0the right to education representing a story, a concept, a complaint,\u00a0or showing a future perspective as message of hope or as a\u00a0concrete proposal on the opportunities to be pursued to achieve this\u00a0fundamental goal for the construction of a fair and right society.<\/p>\n<p>More about the event here: <a href=\"http:\/\/aiapi.it\/hr-edu-en\">http:\/\/aiapi.it\/hr-edu-en<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nadia&#8217;s film <em>Because I Am<\/em> was created during her artist residency since September 2016, at The Rabbit on The Moon Nursery in Sittingbourne, and there will be an exhibition \u2013 <em>Because I am: A children&#8217;s journey across self recognition and discovery of the world around them through the arts<\/em> \u00a0\u2013 on Saturday 23<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">rd<\/span><\/sup> June, 12-3pm at Kemsley Community Centre, The Square, Ridham Ave, Kemsley, Sittingbourne showing the works the children created with her throughout the past year.<\/p>\n<p>See Nadia&#8217;s film here: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/L7y0d5U20oM\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/L7y0d5U20oM<span class=\"forPrint\"><sup> [3]<\/sup><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nadia is a film maker and visual artist with experience in exhibiting and organizing events, art writing and curating.\u00a0 She works mostly with time based, installations, digital work, creative writing and performances.
