{"id":1840,"date":"2016-11-17T14:27:48","date_gmt":"2016-11-17T14:27:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/?p=1840"},"modified":"2016-11-22T10:18:33","modified_gmt":"2016-11-22T10:18:33","slug":"graduates-giving-back-the-story-of-keith-donkor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/2016\/11\/17\/graduates-giving-back-the-story-of-keith-donkor\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduates Giving Back &#8211; the story of Keith Donkor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Keith Donkor (Keynes 2012) is a\u00a0Mathematics and Accounting &amp; Finance graduate. \u00a0Keith worked as a student caller on several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/giving\/opportunityfund\/appeal\/index.html\">Telephone Campaigns<\/a> and has recently committed to a regular donation to the Kent Opportunity Fund. \u00a0We caught up with him to ask why he chose to donate back:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/files\/2016\/11\/donkor-keith.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1841\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/files\/2016\/11\/donkor-keith-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"donkor-keith\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/files\/2016\/11\/donkor-keith-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/files\/2016\/11\/donkor-keith.jpg 266w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I was always going to give back to the Kent Opportunity Fund, given my experiences working on three telephone campaigns. The two main reasons behind my donation though.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Firstly, the cause itself is something I really believe in. I&#8217;ve been lucky enough to speak with PhD scholars who have been given the opportunity to carry out work they&#8217;re passionate about. It&#8217;s special because it gives these students an opportunity that wouldn&#8217;t have been available to them but for the KOF. It&#8217;s helps so many people so everybody should really help.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Secondly, being involved in the campaigns has had an indirect positive effect on me and my career. It has opened doors for me and allowing me to become a Business Development Manager for a recruitment company.
