{"id":1017,"date":"2015-01-27T12:10:18","date_gmt":"2015-01-27T12:10:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/?p=1017"},"modified":"2015-04-27T11:11:53","modified_gmt":"2015-04-27T10:11:53","slug":"kent-historians-host-new-delhi-reception","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/2015\/01\/27\/kent-historians-host-new-delhi-reception\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent historians host New Delhi reception"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kent historians have hosted a reception in New Delhi to mark 400 years of Anglo-Indian diplomatic contact and Kent\u2019s 50th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The reception followed a conference, in the Nehru Memorial Library, which analysed Anglo-Indian interactions in India from the early 17th century to the middle of the 19th century. The conference was attended by Kent scholars, led by Reader in the <a title=\"School of History\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/history\/\">School of History<\/a> <a title=\"Dr William Pettigrew\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/history\/staff\/profiles\/pettigrew.html\">Dr William Pettigrew<\/a>, and historians from around India.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Kent delegates hosted the evening reception, in the Delhi Gymkhana Club, for academic colleagues as well as Kent alumni and local contacts to mark both 400 years of Anglo-Indian corporate connections and Kent\u2019s 50th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The gathering was part of the international outreach activities of Dr Pettigrew\u2019s five-year \u00a31 million Research Leadership Award from the Leverhulme Trust.
