The Lawson Trust visits the Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy

We were delighted to welcome Mike Norrie (Chairman) and Sarah Hill (Trustee) of The Lawson Trust to the Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy on Monday 10th February. The Lawson Trust generously donated £20,000 to fund the Lawson Trust Research Associate at the Centre to support our groundbreaking research into non-invasive brain stimulation.

During their visit, The Lawson Trust had the opportunity to meet Alex Marin, who is at the forefront of this exciting research. Alex, alongside Dr. Mayur Bodani, is carrying out cutting-edge studies that focus on non-invasive brain stimulation as a therapeutic approach for individuals with Parkinson’s disease. The research has already shown incredibly promising results, with all participants in the most recent trial describing some level of improvement in their symptoms after just six sessions. These benefits have lasted beyond the trial’s conclusion, highlighting the long-term potential of this treatment.

The representatives of the Trust were given a tour of the Centre, where they met some of our members who have directly benefited from the non-invasive brain stimulation trial. They spoke candidly about their experiences and the positive changes they’ve noticed since starting their therapy. They shared stories of improved motor skills, increased energy levels and a greater sense of independence. It was clear that the work being done at the Centre is making a meaningful difference.

This donation is a significant step forward for the Parkinson’s Centre, allowing us to expand our research and continue providing innovative treatments for those living with Parkinson’s disease. We are incredibly grateful to the Lawson Trust for their continued support and for taking the time to learn more about the work that is helping to transform lives.

We are excited to see where this collaboration will take us in the future and we look forward to sharing even more positive outcomes as the research progresses. A big thank you to The Lawson Trust for believing in this work and for helping us to continue advancing care and treatment for Parkinson’s disease.
