Sarah Frow, the inspirational fitness instructor at the Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy (PCIT), has smashed through day two of her incredible fundraising challenge. Diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease (YOPD) at just 44, Sarah is running the historic Pilgrims’ Way from Winchester to Canterbury, aiming to cover over 150km in just six days.
Yesterday, Sarah and her running partner Steve tackled the scenic (and sometimes challenging!) terrain between Upper Froyle and Guildford. Their 40.4km journey took them through beautiful countryside, with streams, bogs and stunning natural landscapes.
The journey wasn’t without its heartwarming moments. Sarah’s son even joined her for a portion of the run, adding a special touch to this already inspiring feat. Despite the demanding distance, at the end of day two Sarah said she felt good and enjoyed a well-deserved post-run massage to soothe her tired legs and body.
Sarah’s determination to raise awareness for YOPD is truly remarkable. Parkinson’s is often associated with older adults, but Sarah’s story highlights the fact that this disease can impact people at any age. Her run serves a dual purpose: raising funds for the vital work of PCIT and educating the public about YOPD.
With two days conquered, Sarah’s journey continues. You can follow her progress and support her fundraising efforts by visiting her JustGiving page.
Together, we can show Parkinson’s that we won’t back down. Keep running, Sarah!
