Sarah Frow, a fitness instructor at the Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy (PCIT), has begun an incredible journey. Diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease three years ago at the age of 44, Sarah is running from Winchester to Canterbury over six days to raise awareness of and funds for PCIT with her friend and running partner, Steve Howard.
Yesterday, Sarah and her team embarked on this epic challenge, kicking things off at the historic Winchester Cathedral. Their first leg took them through beautiful English countryside to Upper Froyle, covering a demanding 40.3 kilometers (25 miles).
This inspirational run isn’t just a test of physical endurance, it’s a testament to the power of exercise in managing Parkinson’s. Sarah’s motto, “exercise is my medicine,” perfectly encapsulates her determination to live an active life despite the challenges of the disease.
The good news is, Sarah isn’t alone in this challenge – she was joined on day one by University of Kent alumnus, Matthew Bailey, and his wife Claire. The support of the community and fellow runners is sure to be a source of strength throughout this week-long journey.
Sarah has surpassed her initial target, raising over £21,000 for PCIT so far. These funds will directly support PCIT’s vital work in providing exercise classes for people with Parkinson’s.
