PCIT are excited to announce that our therapy timetable has been updated to include the much-anticipated Zumba Gold and Seated Dance, both of which will run at times outside of the usual timetable schedule.
Zumba Gold starts next Thursday, 7th December at 6pm. Zumba is a fun, dance-fitness programme inspired by Latin American rhythms. The Gold version is more suited to people with Parkinson’s in that it is lower intensity than the original version of Zumba but still provides a good full body workout. No partner or dance experience is necessary and beginners are welcome.
Our new Seated Dance class commences on the Saturday, 9th December at 10am and had also been carefully selected for its suitability for our PCIT members. If you have ever enjoyed dancing – or even just jigging around to music! – but find standing a little challenging these days, or perhaps your movement is limited in other ways, then this class is perfect for you. The class will involve a variety of dance styles, from Flamenco to Bollywood to Disco classics with some creative dancing thrown in here and there! Again, no dance partner or experience is necessary and it is entirely suitable for beginners.
The classes are taking place at the Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy/Kent MS Therapy Centre and will be led by our newly recruited instructor, Melanie Keen who we are very happy to be welcoming to our PCIT Team.
We are making these classes available to partners/carers of PCIT members who are associate members of the Centre and who may also wish to participate – and we will be introducing further sessions for our associate members in the near future.
Please email parkinsons@kent.ac.uk to book a class – or call us on 01227 470876.
