Peter Roger and Francis Ball, two supporters of the Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy, are organising a charity walk to raise vital funds in aid of the Centre which will open later this year and invite members of the public to join them. The walk, a gentle and scenic 7.5 mile coastal route, will take place on Sunday 2nd October and will begin at 10am at the Captain Digby in Kingsgate, finishing at the Sir Stanley Gray in Ramsgate.
Francis said: “Peter and I are near neighbours in Deal who both have Parkinson’s. Over the last year we have been reaching out to people in our area who also have Parkinson’s or are friends, relatives and partners for mutual support etc. We have also been participating in research projects at the University and in discussions about the Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy. We are really excited that the Centre is scheduled to open this Autumn. To have such a unique facility virtually on our doorstep is tremendous news and we are extremely grateful to the people who are working hard to make this happen. We decided to organise a sponsored walk local to raise funds to support this Centre and raise awareness of the wonderful work it plans to do.”

Walk specifics
The walk will start at 10.00am and participants are asked to check in with the organisers in the The Captain Digby Car Park, Broadstairs. Everyone will be provided with a route guide for the walk.
There will be a rest stop for those who need a break at the Charles Dickens pub in Broadstairs and the finish line is the car park of the Pegwell Bay Hotel. This is opposite the Sir Stanley Gray Pub at Pegwell Bay, Ramsgate where there will be further opportunities to rehydrate and make use of the facilities. If the weather permits, the Sir Stanley Gray has a terrace with stunning views across Pegwell Bay.
Arrangements will be made to return participants back to their cars at the starting point.
