On 14th November 2024, the Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy (PCIT) was awarded the prestigious Community Ambassador Award at the University of Kent’s annual Staff Recognition Awards. This remarkable achievement highlights the invaluable contributions of PCIT’s dedicated team in improving the lives of individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, both locally and beyond.
The event, which saw over 200 nominations across six categories, was a true celebration of excellence within the University community. Our win in the Community Ambassador category highlights the outstanding work we have carried out over the past year, providing innovative services and support for people with Parkinson’s.
PCIT is leading the way in integrated therapy, combining medical expertise with holistic services to offer a unique and comprehensive support system for individuals living with Parkinson’s. Our approach goes beyond just physical therapy, encompassing a range of services including social opportunities, integrated therapies and involvement in cutting-edge research projects. By offering these diverse services, PCIT has created a vibrant hub for people with Parkinson’s in the local community.
As the only centre of its kind in the UK, PCIT’s influence stretches well beyond Canterbury. Its unique approach has made it a leader in innovative Parkinson’s care, offering services which have had a transformative impact on our members’ quality of life.
One colleague summed the award up perfectly, saying, “The Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy is transforming the lives of individuals with Parkinson’s in our community. As the only centre of its kind in the UK, it has not only provided innovative care but has also raised the profile of Parkinson’s support nationally. This exceptional work makes them truly deserving of this award.”
We would like to thank all our donors for their ongoing support, without them the Centre wouldn’t be where it is today and this award would not have been possible.
Congratulations to the Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy team for this well-deserved recognition. We are changing lives and setting new standards in Parkinson’s care.
