Pilgrims’ Way Challenge: Day 5 complete!

Sarah Frow, fitness instructor at the Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy (PCIT), continues to smash her ambitious goal of running six marathons in six days! This incredible feat is raising vital funds for PCIT, a cause especially close to Sarah’s heart as she herself lives with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease.

Day five threw everything at Sarah and her fellow runners. Strong winds and relentless rain turned the journey into a true test of grit and determination. Despite the challenging conditions, Sarah and her team displayed amazing spirit, pushing through skids, slips and falls to complete the 7.5-hour trek.

The day wasn’t just about battling the elements – it was also about camaraderie and community support. The spirit was infectious, attracting new participants eager to join Sarah on her mission. University of Kent alumnus, Matthew Bailey, who joined Sarah and Steve on day one, couldn’t resist rejoining the team, catching a train to Rochester for legs five and six. Sarah’s friend Lou, her mum Denise (who tackled a half marathon), sister Jen who cycled alongside and even Jess and Helen all joined the effort. What a fantastic display of teamwork!

Matthew said: “After a great day running with Sarah and Steve on Monday on their Pilgrims’ Way run from Winchester to Canterbury, it felt wrong for them to be out running still with me sitting at home so I made the decision to join them for days 5 (Rochester to Charing) and 6 (Charing to Canterbury). The motto for the week has been very simple. If Sarah can do this, we can all do this too. I’ve had an amazing few days meeting lots of Sarah’s family and friends. Thank you all for making me so welcome. If anyone would like to add to Sarah’s sponsorship page for the amazing Parkinson’s Centre For Integrated Therapy, it would be greatly appreciated.”

With weary legs and soaked spirits, the team celebrated their incredible achievement with a well-deserved pizza feast and much-needed rehydration. As Sarah and her fellow runners prepare to tackle the final leg, one thing is clear: their determination and the power of community support are unstoppable.

Let’s keep cheering for Sarah and her team! You can donate to this amazing cause and help PCIT continue its vital work by visiting Sarah’s Just Giving Page.
