On Wednesday 13th July, one of the hottest days of the year so far, a walking group from Chartham took part in a sponsored walk along the River Stour to raise money for the Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy.
The group raised the fantastic sum of £275 through sponsorship and a cake sale to support the new Parkinson’s Centre which is set to open this autumn.
Ruth Harling, alumna and former staff member of the University of Kent, said “As a group, we wanted to do something to help those in our community and beyond who are living with Parkinson’s. Some of the group have experienced first hand how devastating a Parkinson’s diagnosis can be and we wanted to play our part in helping to raise funds to launch the Centre later this year. The walk was a most pleasant occasion and we enjoyed it all the more knowing we were making a difference to so many people’s lives.”
The University of Kent is most grateful for the group’s efforts and thank them most sincerely for their support.
