Skydivers raise £1,697 towards the Kent Law Campaign

Sam Winstanley and Billy Ng took part in a charity skydive on Saturday 29th November 2014 to raise money for the Kent Law Campaign.

Sam, from the University of Kent’s campus branch of Santander, organised the team and secured matched funding from Santander which brought their fundraising total to an incredible £1,697 once the University of Kent’s pound for pound match was also added.

After a thorough briefing session, Sam and Billy jumped from a height of 12,000 feet and experienced an exhilarating freefall of 40 seconds reaching speeds of 120 mph before their instructor opened the parachute and they were treated to beautiful views of the Kent countryside as they glided to the ground at a speed of 9 mph.

Of the experience Sam said: “It was a great honour to be able to represent both Santander Universities and the Kent Law Campaign in the skydive on Saturday.  The opportunity to raise funds for this worthwhile cause whilst experiencing the thrill of jumping from a plane at 12,000 feet was fantastic. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the Kent Law Campaign through helping to raise awareness of the great work of both the students and staff.”

Billy, the Vice-Chair of the Kent Law Campaign Student Group, added: “It was wonderful to be able to participate in such a great challenge event to raise money for such a good cause.  I overcame my fear of heights and felt so loved and supported by the Kent Law Campaign.  I am very grateful and would like to thank every single person who kindly sponsored me.  Now I cannot wait to skydive again!”

We would like to thank Sam and Billy for their dedication to the cause and congratulate them on their achievement.  If you would like to sponsor them their fundraising page is still open. www.justgiving.com/teams/klcskydive2014
