{"id":24,"date":"2019-04-05T13:43:18","date_gmt":"2019-04-05T12:43:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/cshe\/?p=24"},"modified":"2021-03-01T11:04:34","modified_gmt":"2021-03-01T11:04:34","slug":"cshe-wins-two-seda-research-and-evaluation-small-grants-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/cshe\/2019\/04\/05\/cshe-wins-two-seda-research-and-evaluation-small-grants-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"CSHE wins two SEDA Research and Evaluation Small Grants 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/cshe\/people\/staff\/jleigh2.html\">Dr Jennifer Leigh<\/a> has been awarded \u00a31000 from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seda.ac.uk\/\">Staff and Educational Development Association<\/a> for the project, \u201cInternational students who teach: A creative approach to supporting them\u201d.\u00a0 She will collaborate with Jo Collins, University of Kent and Nicole Brown, UCL Institute of Education, to provide and evaluate workshops for international graduate students at four different universities. The workshops are intended to help participants explore their teaching and adjustment experiences, and to challenge them to think about how they could make the most of their teaching and learning. Project findings will help identify the particular challenges and barriers that international students face in teaching in the UK and lead to resources that may assist this important but overlooked group of teachers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/cshe\/people\/staff\/epitt2.html\">Dr Edd Pitt<\/a> has been awarded \u00a3968 from SEDA to support the project, \u201cEverybody hurts: Sharing feedback experiences through &#8216;intellectual candour&#8217; to develop staff and student feedback literacy\u201d, in collaboration with Dr Naomi Winstone of the Department of Higher Education at the University of Surrey. The project aims to: (1) understand the similarities and differences in educators\u2019 and students\u2019 experiences of receiving and using feedback; (2) develop and evaluate a staff training model to facilitate the use of \u2018feedback preparation activities\u2019 with their own students, focused around sharing experiences and challenges pertaining to the use of feedback, and (3) apply an evidence-informed approach to the development of resources that can be used by staff and students in partnership to break down power relations in the assessment and feedback process.
