New Professional Development Programme for Kent technicians

To enable the Kent 2030 Vision of a student-centric university, the Centre for the Study of Higher Education (CSHE) is pleased to introduce our new Professional Development (CPD) Programme designed specifically for technicians who teach, mentor, and support students in laboratories, workshops, and other educational settings.

The programme, entitled Developing Learning and Teaching for Technicians (DLT), will enrich technicians’ pedagogical knowledge and skills, and provide them with resources to effectively teach and support students. This is a learning space that encourages critical reflection of practice and exchange of innovative ideas. This year we are delighted to welcome technicians from NATS, CEMS, and A&H. The programme will run its first workshop in September 2024 and the second workshop in January 2025. Participants in the DLT programme will engage in peer observations and feedback during autumn term. At the end of the programme, participants will receive a certificate of completion.

We are delighted to be partnering with three Senior Technical Services Managers to offer this programme for their staff. If you would like more information about the programme or would like to discuss a tailored programme for other University of Kent non-academic staff who teach, please contact heprogsadmin@kent.ac.uk in the first instance.
