The role of qualitative research approaches in enhancing interdisciplinary teams’ reflexivity and creativity in the gendered environment of supramolecular chemistry.

Dr Jennifer Leigh, together with Dr Jennifer Hiscock has won £100 000 BA APEX funding to explore whether the implementation of creative, reflective and embodied approaches lead to increased innovation and productivity in STEM research teams led by women. This question will be answered through completion of three objectives, combining the expertise of academics from social science and chemistry:

  1. Identify the experiences and development of academic identity as women build academic careers.
  2. Identify the impact of using creative, reflective and embodied approaches on the academic outputs of scientific teams led by women.
  3. Production of a tool kit which contains creative, reflective and embodied approaches to improve the scientific outputs/deliverables of a team.
