The primary focus is on developments that reflect changes to law and policy primarily in the UK, Ireland and the EU. Occasionally, it will also include a major decision from\u00a0international courts and Supreme Courts in other common law jurisdictions.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>About the author:<\/strong> <a href=\"mailto:d.p.walsh@kent.ac.uk\">Professor Dermot P J Walsh<\/a> is a\u00a0Professor of Law at Kent Law School, University of Kent; formerly professor of law at the University of Limerick, senior lecturer in law at the University of Ulster and lecturer in law\u00a0at University College Cork. He is a member of the Inn of Court of Northern Ireland. He was\u00a0elected a Member of the Royal Irish Academy in 2011, is a former President of the Irish Association of Law Teachers and\u00a0was a Senior Government of Ireland Research Fellow in 2007-2008. He has served on several public bodies in criminal justice and higher education in Ireland.\u00a0His primary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/people\/academic\/Walsh,_Dermot.html\">research interests<\/a> are in policing, criminal procedure,\u00a0EU criminal law and human rights. He has published extensively in these fields.\u00a0Leading works include: <i>Walsh on Criminal Procedure 2nd ed<\/i> (2016); <i>Human Rights and\u00a0Policing in Ireland<\/i> (2009); and <i>The Irish Police: a Legal and Constitutional Perspective<\/i> (1998).
