{"id":775,"date":"2020-02-07T12:22:44","date_gmt":"2020-02-07T12:22:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/cpp-news-events\/?p=775"},"modified":"2020-02-07T12:22:44","modified_gmt":"2020-02-07T12:22:44","slug":"dr-anne-maria-brennan-at-international-summit-djibouti-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/cpp-news-events\/2020\/02\/07\/dr-anne-maria-brennan-at-international-summit-djibouti-city\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr Anne-Maria Brennan at International Summit, Djibouti City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Anne-Maria Brennan, a lecturer at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/professional-practice\">Centre for Professional Practice<\/a>, recently took part in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.multivu.com\/players\/uk\/8682651-summit-balanced-inclusive-education-djibouti\/\">International Summit on Balanced and Inclusive Education<\/a> which was held in Djibouti City.<\/p>\n<p>The summit is the culmination of an initiative to produce the Universal Declaration of Balanced and Inclusive Education, which is part of the United Nations\u2019 Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SD4) which seeks to \u2018Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the summit, Dr Brennan gave a presentation entitled Inclusivity re-imagined: celebrating humankind\u2019s medical endeavour.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on her presentation she said: <em>\u201cThe aim was to illustrate how the study of the history of medicine and its areas helps promote an inclusive approach to the STEM curriculum by highlighting its importance to human civilisation and culture.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>During the summit she also formally signed the Universal Declaration on Balanced and Inclusive Education and the Constitutive Charter for the Organisation of Education Cooperation (OEC) in her capacity as Vice President of Science Engagement at the Foundation for Science, Technology and Civilisation.\u00a0 The newly formed OEC will develop and implement international strategies to achieve SDG4 by the target date of 2030 as set by the United Nations.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/professional-practice\">Centre for Professional Practice<\/a> offers a range of flexible, part-time postgraduate programmes and short course which have been specifically designed to meet the needs of professionals who wish to develop their academic skills whilst maintaining their professional roles.
