Would you like to study for a Master’s but are working full time? Are you looking to enhance your professional skills and advance your career with a degree that\u2019s work related and relevant to you?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The University of Kent’s <\/span><\/strong>multi-professional<\/span>, part-time MSc in Advanced and Specialist Healthcare <\/a>programme starting in September 2019, offers you an opportunity to attain academic recognition for the skills, knowledge and experience you have developed in the work place. It focuses on a specific area of practice relevant to your work and enhances your career progression<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Head of the Centre, Debbie Reed, explained that the MSc in Advanced and Specialist Healthcare<\/u><\/b> <\/b><\/span>is a flexible, part-time, multi-professional programme designed specifically <\/span><\/strong>for qualified, registered healthcare professionals including doctors, nurses, dentists, dental care professionals, physiotherapists and therapists working across a wide range of settings including primary, secondary and\u00a0community care who wish to develop their academic skills alongside their professional role<\/span><\/strong>.<\/b> Taught by expert academics and clinicians, the postgraduate programme aims to develop knowledge as well as critical understanding, evidence based practice and research skills.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Entry requirements<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Entry onto the programme is via professional qualification in a relevant field (healthcare) with a minimum of two years post qualification experience in a relevant workplace setting. Alternatively, you need to have successfully completed a University of Kent PCert or PDip (Level 7) in a health related subject areas. <\/span><\/p>\n

GP trainers<\/b> who have successfully achieved PCert or PDip in Strategic Leadership and Multi-professional Education in Healthcare, can continue to\u00a0study for a full MSc award\u00a0by direct access into the PG Diploma.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dentists and dental care professionals<\/b> who have successfully completed the HEE PG Cert and Dip in Primary Dental Care, can continue to\u00a0study for a full MSc award\u00a0by direct access into the PG Diploma.<\/span><\/p>\n

Accreditation of Prior Experiential and \/ or Certificated Leaning (APECL)<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

You are encouraged to convert prior leaning achievements into University of Kent academic credit via Accreditation of Prior Experiential and \/ or Certificated Leaning. To be eligible for accreditation, prior learning must be at the appropriate level and relevant to the programme\u2019s learning outcomes. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Health Education England (Kent, Surrey, Sussex) Post-CCT Fellowships for GPs<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

HEE offer fellowships for early career GPs. The PCert in Advanced and Specialist Healthcare provides the academic component for the Education and Leadership Fellowship, with students gaining the research and evaluation skills required to undertake a project negotiated with the sponsoring CCG. One to one academic support is also provided by the Kent Academic Primary Care Unit <\/span>https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/chss\/research\/units\/kapcu.html<\/a><\/span> who work alongside the Centre for Professional Practice to deliver the teaching for GP Fellows. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Programme structure, content and delivery<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The programme is designed to be studied on <\/span>a<\/b> part-time basis over three years<\/b> (one year per stage <\/span>– a total of three years for PCert, PDip and MSc). Typically, you complete the<\/span> PCert<\/b> in the first year, <\/span>PDip<\/b> in the second year and <\/span>MSc<\/b><\/span> in the third year. <\/span><\/p>\n

The programme is delivered through a variety of teaching methods, including taught sessions and work-based learning, self-study, case study analysis, individual and group tutorials, project and presentations. Online learning resources, including lectures, are available via Moodle, the virtual learning environment. <\/span><\/p>\n

Teaching methods are designed to support learning with empathies on the application of theory to professional practice. Active participation is encouraged throughout with lecturers, seminars, tutorials discussion, case studies and work-related activity. Assessment is based on a combination of written assignments and \/ or portfolio of evidence to address the intended leaning outcomes, and a final stage dissertation. <\/span><\/p>\n

Fees<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

For the 2019-20 academic year, the fees are \u00a32,780. <\/span><\/p>\n
