{"id":295,"date":"2024-11-14T08:51:01","date_gmt":"2024-11-14T08:51:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/conferencesandevents\/?p=295"},"modified":"2024-11-14T09:33:41","modified_gmt":"2024-11-14T09:33:41","slug":"visiting-the-kent-community-oasis-garden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/conferencesandevents\/2024\/11\/14\/visiting-the-kent-community-oasis-garden\/","title":{"rendered":"Visiting The Kent Community Oasis Garden (KentCOG)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Alison and Sandra from our conferences and events team visited <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/sustainability\/kentcog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Kent Community Oasis Garden<\/a> (KentCOG) on Friday and joined students and staff for a touch of autumn gardening.<\/p>\n<p>KentCOG is a collection of students, staff and community members working to create a sustainability hub centred around growing food. Biodiversity in the garden and it&#8217;s link to wellbeing is an important focus for the members and the team continue to make getting involved as accessible as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Sandra said, \u201cit was very interesting learning about the different seasons in the garden and the huge thought that goes into what to plant. Alison and I were made to feel very welcome by Debi and the KentCOG Student Ambassadors. There was a wonderful friendly atmosphere in the garden, and we came away feeling calm, happy, and ready to take on a busy afternoon in the office. We cannot wait to return this Friday.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This autumn the garden is blooming with beans, beetroot, and tomatoes, as well as green vegetables such as mizuna, spinach, chard and pak choi. There is even a soup maker in the potting shed where students were enjoying cutting up freshly picked pumpkin to make pumpkin soup.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone can come along to one of the open sessions on Wednesday and Friday (10:00 \u2013 14:00).
