The University of Kent catering team are thrilled to announce that Annie Borelli, Assistant Food & Beverage Manager, has won the prestigious Rising Star award at the TUCO Awards 2023, for her phenomenal managerial skills in the field of hospitality.
The glittering ceremony took place on the closing night of the TUCO (The University Caterers Organisation) Conference, held on Wednesday 26 July 2023, at the University of St Andrews.
Annie’s journey in the catering world began as a part-time Food & Beverage Assistant at The University of Kent during her academic studies in September 2021. Her dedication and passion for the industry quickly caught the attention of her colleagues, leading to a series of promotions in quick succession. While pursuing her studies, Annie was promoted to Food & Beverage Supervisor and eventually appointed Assistant Food & Beverage Manager in January 2023, following her graduation in late 2022.
Currently, Annie holds a significant role in managing a diverse array of catering outlets and services, including Sibson Café, Darwin Conference Suite, and internal catering services. Her rise to success has been both swift and impressive, drawing acclaim for her integrity, exceptional customer service skills, reliability, team-building abilities, maturity, and innate sense of fun.
Annie has transformed the workplace, consistently discovering ways to enhance productivity and achieve better outcomes. Some of her greatest achievements include successfully overseeing major events such as The Lambeth Conference and Canterbury for Ukraine Fundraising Dinner, as well as implementing innovative changes to hospitality services and an outstanding staff training program.
Beyond the confines of Kent, Annie’s remarkable performance, strong work ethic, and charming personality have earned her widespread praise and recognition from clients and colleagues alike. Her potential within the industry is undeniable, and the Rising Star Award acknowledges her as an emerging talent with a bright future in catering.
