One thing I\u2019ve learned about being back in full-time studies (after spending a couple of years working in the industry) is that the best way to make the most of my academic journey is to integrate it into my whole life. Instead of assuming that progress comes from isolating myself and burying my head in books, I\u2019m not about that \u201civory tower\u201d scientist life\u2014where I never see the light of day and spend all my time in the lab. I\u2019m here for balance.<\/p>\n

I appreciate that my generation of academics places significant emphasis on wellbeing\u2014the overall health of our minds, bodies, spirits, and everything in between. Because of this, I\u2019ve grown to love the many things Kent (as a county) offers while I work toward my PhD. Below are some of my favourite things about this area.<\/p>\n

  1. A Range of Fun Activities<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    There\u2019s always something to do around Kent, not just on campus but in the wider area too. Whether you\u2019re looking to relax or spend energy, there\u2019s something for everyone. My go-to spot for finding events is a local charity that supports international students in the UK by organizing social events tailored specifically for them (local students are welcome too!).       Canterbury is rich in culture and history, and you can always find an event to reflect that. Whether it\u2019s theatre productions, art shows, or visits to museums, there\u2019s no shortage of cultural activities.
