With this new apprenticeship, young people have the choice of new routes to careers in the Civil Service, allowing them to study for a degree whist working at the heart of the government.<\/p>\n

Kent\u2019s School of Economics<\/a> will deliver the new degree-level apprenticeship in conjunction with the University\u2019s Centre for Higher and Degree Apprenticeships<\/a>. This follows from the partnership between the University and the Government Economic Service<\/a> (GES) in September.<\/p>\n

A range of central government departments and agencies will provide placements throughout the programme, including HM Treasury, Department for Business, Energy, Innovation and Science (BEIS), Department for Education (DfE), and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Students will be offered a starting salary of about \u00a322k in London, and in excess of \u00a320k nationally.<\/p>\n

The programme will be open to candidates with GCSE maths at grade B (6) or above and 96 UCAS points \u2013 equivalent to CCC at A-Level, MMM for a BTEC Diploma, DD for a BTEC Certificate.<\/p>\n

Clare Lombardelli<\/a>, Joint head of the Government Economic Service and Chief Economic Adviser at HM Treasury, believes that the programme will \u2018create new opportunities for talented young people from all parts of the communities we serve to consider economist careers in Government.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n
