Harry Day Graduated from The University of Kent in 2022 and has secured a role as a Junior Designer for Publicis Media.
Harry was connected with the SafetyNet+ Scheme by the Careers and Employability Service.
Original Status: Harry was not currently working or studying when he joined our career coaching
support. Harry had begun to submit applications for his dream role in design but was not very
confident on securing this.
Support Provided: Harry’s coach worked closely with him to prepare for upcoming interviews,
focusing particularly on success at assessment centres to build his confidence. This support led to a
final stage interview for a design role, and ultimately a job offer from a multinational advertising &
public relations company.
What Harry Found Most Valuable: Harry told us that “the flexibility and nature of the support was
very reassuring” and that his coach was always there at the exact time he needed the support.
Additionally, accessing this specialised support made Harry feel valued highlighting to him that the
University cared about his “prospects as an individual even after graduating”.
How the Support Helped Harry with his Confidence: The practical advice and support helped Harry
to gain confidence in all aspects relating to both his job search and the stages within the job
application process. Harry shared that he felt “more confident about the strength of each
application and during any interview”.
What Harry Said About the Support: “My coach’s support was always extremely helpful and
informed, it felt very personalised towards my aspirations and career path”.
