Charline Blin graduated from The University of Kent in 2021 with a BA Hons Degree in Politics and International Relations and has secured an internship with the Inter-agency Coordination Section, Partnership and Coordination Service at UNCHR In Geneva.
Charline was connected with the SafetyNet+ Scheme by the Careers and Employability Service.
Original Status: Charline sought coaching support to help her secure her dream graduate role and to grow her confidence when applying for jobs.
Support Provided: Support was initially provided for a CV and LinkedIn review. Her coach also tailored the support to Charline’s aspirations and provided a targeted list of websites for roles that pertained to her interests. Guidance was also given around specific job applications and interview preparation, including her successful application to UNHCR, and the UN Refugee Agency.
What Charline Found the Most Valuable: “The availability of the coach, Andrew in my case, and how friendly and positive he is. It is so important to see that the person coaching you loves their job and are 100% willing to help you. Even last minute I could get help from him, and I am very grateful for this”
How The Support Helped Charline with Confidence: “I had never had any interview before, and God knows how hard cover letters can be. The support has helped me tailor those letters to the jobs, target which information is important, and which is not etc. And for the interviews, I can now work with different questions and prepare for interviews based on this. I can make sure in my preparations and I cover enough ground on my personality, the job, the motivation, and the organisation.”
What Charline Said about the Support: “We do pay a lot of money to study at UK universities, so it does feel like the university is giving some of it back with such great support for three years after we graduate. I was sceptical about it before, but my coach was amazing, so I am very happy the University has invested in this scheme.”
