“This type of support feels like the University of Kent cares what happens to me after I graduate”

Martin Slavov Graduated from The University of Kent in 2022 and has secured a place on The Creative Writing Master of Arts at Leeds Trinity University.

Martin was connected with the SafetyNet+ Scheme by the Careers and Employability Service.

 

Original Status: Martin was not currently working or studying when he joined our career coaching
support. Martin had begun to look online to explore opportunities and only felt somewhat confident
in his search.

Support Provided: Martin’s coach worked closely with him to prepare for interviews, giving him
advice on how to boost his interview technique and feedback on a mock interview. They also worked
with Martin to review his CV and LinkedIn as well as supporting with applications.

What Martin Found Most Valuable: “The passion my Gradcore coach expressed in wanting to better
my CV and find a job was great”. Martin told us the time with his coach was useful and that he felt
like he learned a lot during their meetings.

How the Support helped Martin with his Confidence: Martin shared that time with his coach
“expanded my knowledge on how the professional world works” and “gave me a better idea on how
I need to tackle it” boosting his confidence.

What Martin Said About the Support: “It’s great. This type of support feels like the University of
Kent cares what happens to me after I graduate. I didn’t feel abandoned by them. The service is
good, and I am happy with the support I was provided with”.
