“For me the CV writing was the most valuable”

Matthew Youngs Graduated from The University of Kent in 2022 and has secured a role as a Legal Claims specialist.

Matthew was connected with the SafetyNet+ Scheme by the Careers and Employability Service.

 

Original Status: Matthew joined our career coaching support fairly confident and had begun
submitting applications for his ideal role within the legal sector. However, Matthew was not
currently working or studying.

Support Provided: Matthew’s coach worked closely with him to create a CV, sharing guidance and
reviewing applications for legal roles. This support led to Matthew making it through the initial
recruitment stage and progressing to receive interview invitations. His coach then worked with him
to prepare and ran a mock interview for practice. Matthew was then successful and received a
graduate job offer, texting his coach to share the good news.

What Matthew Found Most Valuable: “For me the CV writing was the most valuable. Being guided
on writing a strong opening paragraph, and being given tips on how to effectively write descriptions
for my previous experiences helped me get noticed by employers and recruiters”.

How the Support Helped Matthew with his Confidence: The support received helped Matthew to
feel much more confident and prepared going into interviews. On top of this knowing his CV was of a
high standard helped Matthew confidence in applying for those ideal legal positions.
