Our 2022 High-level Mediation Workshop focuses on The Role of Women in Peace Building. The two day event includes a panel with distinguished speakers and our interactive training module jointly developed by the Organization of American States (Department for the Promotion of Peace), the Forum of Federations and the University of Kent (CARC).

The two-day negotiations workshop (April 28th-29th, 2022) aims at enhancing professional conflict resolution standards in mediation practice. The course will be delivered by CARC with the support of international experts and institutions specializing in the techniques, tools and practices to prevent and resolve conflict non-violently and will address themes such as: global climate action; federalism and power-sharing; citizens and opinion polls; gender and negotiations; among other key contemporary issues.

Professor Çelik will lead the discussion on the challenges of establishing the Mediterranean Women’s Network in Turkey followed by CARC’s an online negotiations and mediations training course led by Professor Loizides. The training includes a series of interactive simulations, the Café Diplomatico exercises. Each represents a unique case of negotiation and interactive problem solving developed at the University of Kent or drawn from leading negotiation programs and handbooks. As of last year, we have introduced new online tools that help participants better familiarize themselves with key negotiating strategies, and the adaptation of simulation exercises for the specific needs of conflict experts and international mediators including women in peace building. Simulations are easy to follow and fun and therefore participants are not expected to prepare in advance or have prior knowledge of negotiations for this session. Examples of exercises include:
Thinking outside the box (nine dots and other mini-exercises)
Cafe Diplomatico simulation
Fair trade regime (multi-phase/ reiterated prisoner’s dilemma)
Ugli orange simulation
BATNA ( 2 party single issue negotiating a new purchase simulation)
COROVIA: Negotiating a federal constitution/gender quotas (multi-issue, multi-party, multi-universe simulation)
Auction of 10 pound note
Becoming a Good Listener & Let’s Vote video (Mediations in Popular Culture)
Bridge of Spies
