{"id":2028,"date":"2021-12-07T18:14:32","date_gmt":"2021-12-07T18:14:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/cantusfirmus\/?p=2028"},"modified":"2021-12-08T11:37:12","modified_gmt":"2021-12-08T11:37:12","slug":"back-at-the-cathedral-for-the-first-time-since-2019-minerva-voices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/cantusfirmus\/2021\/12\/07\/back-at-the-cathedral-for-the-first-time-since-2019-minerva-voices\/","title":{"rendered":"Back at the Cathedral for the first time since 2019: Minerva Voices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Minerva Voice<\/strong>s, the University of Kent&#8217;s upper-voices chamber choir, returned to Canterbury Cathedral last night, singing at the Cathedral again for the first time since December 2019 for the University Carol Service &#8211; and what a relief it was to be back.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2029\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/cantusfirmus\/files\/2021\/12\/IMG_20211206_195046.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/>A necessarily streamlined Carol Service, lasting an hour, presented a sequence of lessons and carols, for which the Choir sang three pieces. Comprising both undergraduate and postgraduate students, there&#8217;s an international aspect to the ensemble this year, with members from California, Toronto, Hong Kong and from Taiwan, as well as from across the UK.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2030\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/cantusfirmus\/files\/2021\/12\/IMG_20211206_210219.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/>The service was the first time we&#8217;d been singing at the Cathedral since before the pandemic, and we&#8217;ve missed that lush acoustic.
