In September 2020 the European Commission published the first comprehensive review of member-states compliance with this core value of modern liberal democracies. I will be conducting an analysis of the way the European Commission interprets the notion of \u2018rule of law\u2019 and applies it in its reactions to rule of law violations by member states. This project has been commissioned by the European Parliament as an independent expert analysis and will be co-authored with Kalypso Nicolaidis (Oxford\/EUI).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
