{"id":4388,"date":"2020-04-08T10:50:05","date_gmt":"2020-04-08T09:50:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/brussels-news-events\/?p=4388"},"modified":"2020-04-08T11:23:00","modified_gmt":"2020-04-08T10:23:00","slug":"congratulations-to-new-dr-carina-lamont","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/brussels-news-events\/2020\/04\/08\/congratulations-to-new-dr-carina-lamont\/","title":{"rendered":"Congratulations to new Dr Carina Lamont"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;BSIS research student Carina Lamont passed her PhD viva (subject to formal confirmation from the University).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The title of Carina&#8217;s thesis is &#8220;In Search of a Normative Framework, <em>jus post bellum<\/em> for Effective, Purposive, and Sustainable Protection of Civilians in United Nations Peace Operations&#8221;. The examiners were Professor Stephen Allen (Queen Mary University) and Professor Wade Mansell of KLS, University of Kent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The viva was, of course, conducted virtually because of the pandemic, and Carina was in her home in Sweden. The examiners agreed that the thesis clearly met the criteria for a PhD, and that it has implications for the control of UN peacekeeping forces.
