PhD researcher Abdullah Al-Jabassini participated at the\u00a0European Workshops in International Studies (EWIS)\u00a0at the University of Groningen between 6-9 June 2018.<\/p>\n
Abdullah\u00a0illustrated the relationship between Syria’s tribes and the consecutive authorities that ruled Syria\u00a0between\u00a01920\u00a0and\u00a02018 (with the\u00a0French Mandate 1920-46\u00a0, post-independence Syrian\u00a0governments 1946-58, during the union with Egypt 1958-61, and during the Ba’ath Party rule 1963-2011.)<\/p>\n
Also, Abdullah\u00a0presented a chapter from\u00a0his PhD dissertation\u00a0\u2018Civil Resistance to Rebel Organizations in Dar’a Province\u00a0of\u00a0Syria,” where he highlighted the emergence of rebel groups, \u00a0rebel governance, the emergence of ISIS in Dar’a,\u00a0and the role\u00a0tribal leaders played\u00a0between civilians and rebel leaders.<\/p>\n
