EISA is Europe&#8217;s leading association for International Relations. In 2017 elections, 1614 members of the organisation cast their votes, electing six new members to the Governing Board. Dr M\u00e4lksoo was elected together with Prof. Anna Leander (Graduate Institute Geneva), Valeria Bello (United Nations University, Barcelona), Prof. Beate Jahn (University of Sussex), Anna Wojciuk (University of Warsaw) and Maj Grasten (Copenhagen Business School). Remaining board members are Prof.\u00a0Mathias Albert (University of\u00a0Bielefeld), Victoria Basham (Cardiff University), Raquel Freire (University of Coimbra), Prof. Jef Huysmans (Queen Mary, University of London), Ole Jacob Sending (NUPI) and Benjamin Tallis (IIR, Prague).\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">The new board will be ratified at the General Assembly in the upcoming 11th\u00a0Pan-European Conference on International Relations\u00a0in Barcelona in\u00a0September 2017 where Dr M\u00e4lksoo will also present two papers and appear in a roundtable discussion\u00a0on\u00a0\u2018The Role of Professional Associations beyond the Ivory Tower\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;color: black\">The EISA Governing\u00a0Board meets three times a year.\u00a0Its\u00a0members hold various portfolios of responsibilities to support EISA activities, ranging from coordinating \u00a0with organisers of major EISA events to relations with publisher on promoting EISA book series and newsletter. One of the academic formats under the EISA umbrella is the European Workshops in International Studies (EWIS). Dr M\u00e4lksoo was part of the first EWIS at the University of Tartu in 2013 and is co-convening, with Karl Gustafsson (Swedish Institute of International Affairs and Stockholm University), Dagmar Rychnovska (Charles University, Prague) and Jan Daniel (Charles University, Prague) a workshop &#8216;Security in Matter, Memory and Time&#8217; at Cardiff University, Wales in June 2017 in the framework of 4th European Workshops in International Studies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/brussels-news-events\/files\/2017\/05\/logo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2840\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/brussels-news-events\/files\/2017\/05\/logo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"256\" height=\"130\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Maria M\u00e4lksoo, Senior Lecturer in International Security, has been elected to the Governing Board of the European International Studies Association (EISA).
