PhD researcher Hazel Ebenezer will be presenting a paper at the Socio-Legal Studies Association Annual Conference this Friday 8th April 2022.
She will be presenting in the panel Equality and Human Rights in India and her presentation will be on marital rape, discussing the social influences on the legal definition of this crime in India.
These include myths and social scripts within Indian society dictating the role of the wife, the husband and marriage itself – which constantly replicate and reinforce the marital rape immunity in law.
