Dr Maria Mälksoo’s chapter in Europe Thirty Years after 1989: Transformations of Values, Memory, and Identity (ed. Tomas Kavaliauskas)

Dr Maria Mälksoo has published a chapter ‘Envisioning Europe from the East: À la recherche du temps perdu with Václav Havel and Lennart Meri in a volume edited by Tomas Kavaliauskas (Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas, Lithuania).

The book, Europe Thirty Years after 1989: Transformations of Values, Memory, and Identity (Brill/Rodopi, 2021) explores the legacy of 1989 in Eastern European countries.

Dr Mälksoo’s chapter turns to the political thought of two writers-cum-presidents, Václav Havel and Lennart Meri to tap into the early post-1989 visions of Europe, democracy and responsibility.
