Dr Tom Casier and Dr Maria Mälksoo will present their research at the 13th Pan-European Conference on International Relations ‘A Century of Show and Tell: The Seen and the Unseen of IR’ at the Sofia University “Sveti Kliment Ohridski”, Bulgaria, on 11-14 September 2019.
Tom Casier will present his paper Russia’s promotion of (paleo-)conservative norms and mobilisation in former Soviet states and serve as a discussant in a session ‘Whose Norms? Competing Political Models and Patterns of Diffusion in the European Neighbourhood’.
Maria Mälksoo will present a paper Theorising subjectivity through rituals (co-authored with Tanja Aalberts and Xymena Kurowska); another paper A Ritual Approach to Deterrence; speak at a roundtable ‘Rituals of World Politics: On Practices Disordering Things’ and at another one on ‘Demystifying Publishing and Early Career Advancement’. She will also serve as a discussant for a panel on ‘Advances in the Study of Memory and International Politics: the Politics of Trauma and Identity’.
