2nd Movie Night 25 Oct

Dear BSIS war buffs,

after the resounding start of the BSIS Conflict and Security movie evenings, our second movie night is only a week away. We will reconvene on 25 October, from 7 pm to 9.30 pm in the Auditorium to watch Restrepo (2010) together. This documentary of America’s war in Afghanistan has been labelled ‘apolitical’; ‘an exercise in visceral intimacy’, and last not least ‘the best war film ever made’. If you loved Kathryn Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker (2008), you will be blown away by Restrepo.

Here’s a Rolling Stones synopsis of the film. For a review in NYT, see here; in The Independent, see here, and in The Guardian, see here. Yet another review in the Slant magazine, available here.

And for Tim Hetherington’s obituary, one of the producers of Restrepo who was killed in the Libyan civil war in 2011, see here.

Hoping to see many of you there next Wednesday!

All best,

Maria & Yvan
