REMINDER: Lecture by Sir David Warren on China-Japan – 11 March

This is just a reminder of the lecture by Sir David Warren at BSIS tomorrow, Wednesday 11 March, at 13h15 in the Wilson room. Sir David was the UK Ambassador to Japan and is also Chair of the Council of the Unversity of Kent. This is a unique opportunity to hear the views on China-Japan relations from a privileged witness. Dear all,
Sir David Warren will give a Jean Monnet lecture on Wednesday 11 March: “Tensions in the China/Japan relationship: why does this matter to Europe?”.

Sir David was the UK ambassador to Japan from 2008 to 2012 and is currently the Chair of Council of the University of Kent.  During his time with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Sir David dealt with EU/Japan trade issues from 1983-1986, was Deputy Head of the Far Eastern Department 1990-1991 and Head of the International Division in the Cabinet office dealing with UK/Japan technology cooperation and nuclear waste recycling.  Following a second tour in Tokyo, he was Head of the FCO’s Hong Kong Department from 1998 to 2000 before moving for a third time to Japan in 2008 as ambassador.

The lecture will take place on Wednesday 11 March at 13h15 in the Wilson Room.  Sir David will be accompanied on his visit to Brussels by Denise Everitt, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university.
