Dr Albena Azmanova is recipient of the American Political Science Association’s 2021 Michael Harrington Book Award for her Capitalism on Edge: How Fighting Precarity Can Achieve Radical Change Without Crisis or Utopia, (Columbia University Press 2020).
This award “recognizes an outstanding book that demonstrates how scholarship can be used in the struggle for a better world”.
With its analysis of generalised precarity, the book has impacted the terms of political debate as it has drawn the discussion of social justice beyond its habitual focus on inequality.
The eminent U.S. economist James Galbraith has called it ‘the big-think book of our time”.
