We are delighted to announce that PhD student Abdullah Al-Jabassini passed his viva (virtually!) without corrections.
The PhD dissertation entitled Tribalocracy: Wartime Social Order and Its Transformation in Tribal Regions. Evidence from Daraa Governorate in Southern Syria is a profound and fascinating exploration of rebel governance in Syria. For those familiar with this literature, Abdo’s thesis contributes significantly to existing models, notably by adopting a dynamic approach of wartime orders or considering the endogeneity of rebel mobilisation.
Abdullah’s thesis was supervised by Dr Yvan Guichaoua and Dr Maria Mälksoo.
The PhD was examined by Dr Harmonie Toros and Professor Steven Heydemann.
Congratulations, Abdo!
