Lama Jaghjougha wins Kent Student Award for Outstanding Contribution to Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity

BSIS student Lama Jaghjougha has won a Kent Student Award for her Outstanding Contribution to Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity. This was presented to her on Friday 20th July 2020 via a video live-stream broadcast to all students via the University’s YouTube channel at a virtual ceremony hosted by Professor Karen Cox.

Lama Jaghjougha wins the award for recognising the vulnerability of immigrant and refugee women, even more so for those wearing the hijab, leading to her establishing the initiative (RWAN – Raise Women’s Awareness Network); supporting and encouraging immigrant and refugee women in their goals of further study, training and employment.

As well as a certificate and recognition of the achievement on her Higher Education Achievement Report, Lama’s achievement will be engraved onto a brick in the “Footsteps Path” at the University of Kent Canterbury campus.
