BGSU VP Candidate Profiles

Dear fellow students,

As it was published these past days, the process for elect the Vice President started with the reception of candidatures. Two very intelligent women sent on time their profiles and are interested in become the VP and in the future the Presidente of BGSU. I have to say that I am happy with both candidatures because I know that any of them are going to perform an great job in the positions. Attached to this I send you their profiles so you can start meeting them. The process will continue these days and I hope we hold the elections soon.

I encourage you to participate actively and don’t hesitate to ask me any question.

Salomé Ietter    Denisa Marilena Ticusan
Dear BSISers,
Maybe you know me, be it as a french teacher, a french baker, a postmodernist, or be it as a random student. Or maybe you don’t know me, and it would probably be better if you did before voting. As you might have guessed, I’m French, but I’m also Salomé Ietter, student in the extended MA program in International Relations, specializing in Conflict and Security.
I started to get involved in the Union with the Academic Department, for which I’m monitoring a French conversation table. I’m also active in the Discussion Group on Critical Theories and in the preparation of the International Conference. Becoming the VP would be the opportunity to use my (sometimes too much?) organized and supervising nature. I’m really excited to start and coordinate new projects, and more broadly, to help others, whether it is for personal concerns, or, and most importantly within this school, when it comes to academic matters.
As I also want to continue in PhD, I might be at BSIS for quite a long time. I feel like I belong here, and I’m now sure that I made the right choice. Therefore, I want to get involved, leave my footprint, promote the school, and above all, ensure that you also feel like you belong here. Voilà, in any case, I wish you all the best and talk to you soon 🙂
My name is Denisa Marilena Ticusan and I am currently enrolled in the MA in International Relations in the extended programme and I am running for the elections of the new VP of the BGSU.
My favourite quote is „Be yourself the change you want to see in the world.” (Mahatma Gandhi).  I believe that only through cooperation and communication we will be able to solve the issues that arise. Also I consider that problems are the means to discover new sollutions. Through creativity, flexibility, a clear vision and both long and short-term planning all issues can be tackled.
During my experience I found out that keeping an open-minded attitude and supporting intiatives is useful when dealing with new challenges in an international environment. The recent six months internship for the European Institute of Romania allowed me to work in a dynamic and motivated team and also to observe and reflect critically about different issues encountered. I have also demonstrated that I am organised and have excellent time-management skills.
I had the opportunity of engaging in many extracurricular activities and events dedicated to young people such as the BISMUN 2013 (Bucharest International Student Model United Nations 2013)  Conference and also The Diplomatic Agenda 2013. I gained an insight about the modalities of relating and motivating the organising team and also the way of managing large groups of people in order to reach a goal as overcoming the problem supposes a high degree of intuition and the ability to understand and interpret the true intentions of the speaker.  Thus,  I found extremely important the ability to manage the divergent opinions of a group and mould them until a consensus is reached, which I have previously developed during the AIESEC Grow Summer School.
The knowledge and the understanding of my own capacities and abilities, the intuition that the position as VP of the BGSU  is the most suitable for my personality and the fact that I am enrolled in the extended programme, will allow me to continue and improve the traditions of the Union to the benefit of all the students.

Kind regards,
