FDR Lecture: Using Library Resources in Research

Dear all,

Tomorrow (Tuesday, October 13), Theresa Thurston from the University of Kent’s Templeman Library in Canterbury will give a talk on how to access and use the university’s various scholarly resources in your research. Ms. Thurston’s presentation will take place during FDR’s first hour (6-7pm), and will be followed by Prof. Schepel’s lecture on how to effectively compile a bibliography for an academic paper.

Further, Ms. Thurston will also hold an information services clinic (a drop-in session) between 9 am and noon the following day (Wednesday, Oct 14) in Lecture Room 2.

Please use this lecture and the morning drop-in session to learn how to take advantage of Kent’s extensive academic databases. This is relevant to both first-semester and continuing (part-time and extended program) students (i.e. FDR Term 1 and Term 2) .The importance of knowing where and how to look for scholarly (re)sources (as you are collecting data and reviewing literature for your research) cannot be overstated. In particular, use the drop-in session if you need specific info, advice or any clarification as to how to navigate Templeman’s (and associated) digital and hard copy resources. My advice is that you do not postpone this.

Cheers,
Bojan Savić, PhD
