New lecturers at BSIS

We are delighted to announce the appointment of two new lecturers at BSIS.

Bojan Savic joins us from Elon University, North Carolina where he was an Assistant Professor. Prior to this, Bojan worked at Virginia Tech in the US and he is also a graduate of the PhD programme at BSIS from 2012. Bojan’s research lies at the intersection of Critical Security Studies, International Development, and Critical Geopolitics. He has worked extensively on NATO. In the upcoming year Bojan will teach the following modules at BSIS: Foreign Policy Analysis, EU Politics and Governance and The Politics of International Development. He will also coordinate FDR.

Yvan Guichaoua will join us in September from the University of East Anglia. Yvan is a conflict expert whose research focuses on collective political violence, the dynamics of irregular armed groups and informal governance in West Africa. He will convene the MA in International Conflict Security at BSIS and teach the following modules in 2015-16: Conflict and Security, Theories of Violence and Conflict, and Development Theory and Practice.

Yvan replaces Elise Feron who has left the University of Kent to join the Tampere Peace Research Institute (Finland). As one of the pillars of BSIS, conflict expert, passionate teacher and researcher, we will miss her dedication, expertise, efficient guidance and caring attitude very much. We regret to see such an excellent colleague leave but are happy to know that she will stay in close touch with BSIS.

We extend a warm welcome to Bojan and Yvan and wish Elise all the best in her new position.
