Global Skills Award Programme

Dear all,

this is a reminder on the Global Skills Award Programme, which is open to all taught postgraduate students here at BSIS. The programme comprises a lecture series this term, covering topics from peace and intervention, postfeminism, all the way to state terrorism and ‘the wisdom of psychopaths’.

A second part comprises a workshop series in the spring term, with topics ranging from leadership skills to team working and presentation skills. The programme is designed to broaden your study experience here at BSIS and increase your employability. In order to obtain the award, you will need to view a minimum of 8 lectures and to attend a minimum of 6 workshops. Upon successful completion of the programme, you will get a Global Skills Award Certificate.
You can find more information in the leaflets that were distributed in the Common Room and by visiting the GSA Brussels website: http://www.kent.ac.uk/graduateschool/skills/programmes/gsabrussels.html

Applications have to be made via the university booking system (https://bloom.kent.ac.uk). All applications will be dealt with by the Graduate School. After you receive a confirmation of your acceptance to the programme, you will need to complete an online Initial Skills Assessment (also via the bloom system, cf. link above). The lecture series starts with an introductory lecture at the beginning of November. The exact date of the introductory lecture will be announced shortly. Most lectures will take place in Canterbury and will be screened here in Brussels.

You are also eligible to attend the Public Lectures running throughout the academic year. These will also count towards your total number of lectures attended for the award. You will find more information on these Public Lectures in the leaflets distributed.

The lecture part of the Global Skills Award Programme is starting this term, followed by a series of workshops that you will need to complete in the spring term.

Let me know if you have any questions on this.

Best,
Moritz
